James Vivian is an operations executive with a proven record of optimizing billion-dollar global businesses, driving enterprise-wide change, and delivering sustainable performance improvements. A trusted partner to CEOs and boards, he blends strategic financial acumen with operational execution to achieve measurable value creation across complex, global environments.

James spent +10 years at Dow Jones & Company. During his tenure there he led strategy and operations for a $1B+ global division encompassing data, media, news, and events businesses. He directed large-scale transformation initiatives that delivered over $50M in cost reductions, reallocated capital toward innovation, and produced 17% year-over-year EBITDA growth across the division. As SVP of Transformation & Project Management, he spearheaded a company-wide program impacting more than 7,000 employees, modernizing operations through digital enablement, AI integration, and shared-services redesign.

As SVP, Head of Business Management, James managed daily operations and growth initiatives for Dow Jones’s commercial and operations division. Under his leadership, the B2B business achieved 49% EBITDA growth, and the B2C professional consumer segment doubled profitability through improved pricing strategy and go-to-market optimization. Earlier, as VP of Business Planning & Strategy, he oversaw a $550M+ division and led the successful integration of two $1.5B acquisitions—OPIS and Chemical Market Analytics—ensuring operational continuity and synergy realization.

Before joining Dow Jones, James was a Principal Consultant at Q5 Partners in London and New York, specializing in organizational effectiveness and enterprise restructuring. He partnered with senior executives across Media, Financial Services, and Construction sectors, leading complex redesigns of corporate functions and establishing performance frameworks to sustain growth.

Today, as founder of Auchenglen LLC, James advises C-suite leaders on transformation strategy, governance, and Gen AI adoption. His consulting work centers on building high-accountability, high-performance organizations equipped to navigate disruption and scale effectively.

James earned a Law LL.B. from the University of London (SOAS). He is President of the Connecticut Grey Rugby Club and a board member since 2020, reflecting his ongoing commitment to leadership, teamwork, and community engagement.
